Mestre Doutor’s non-profit, Project Capoeira, has been making a difference in the Philadelphia community for many years, and Brazilian Day Philadelphia is one big way in which Project Capoeira accomplishes their mission, “to promote intercultural understanding and a sense of community through arts education and social outreach.”
To help achieve this amazing feat, Project Capoeira is asking for your generous donations and support for the good of the community:
Brazilian Day Philadelphia Series is an innovative social outreach project, which fosters an environment that builds and strengthens the Brazilian community in the region. The Series celebrates diversity in the Philadelphia, America’s first World Heritage City. Participating weaves the cultural fabric of our City.
Brazilian Day Philadelphia Series is our most challenging and costly project. With your support, we strengthen our programs and innovative projects, such as Brazilian Day Philadelphia Series, which serve our community.
On the fundraising page, there is a list of expenses that helps to convey the effort and hard work required to pull off such an incredible event.
Brazilian Day Philadelphia is an annual festival that is part of the PECO Multicultural Series, being held on September 25, 2016 from 12-6pm at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia. A beautiful, public waterfront venue, Penn’s Landing provides a grand stage with plentiful seating and incredible views of the Delaware River. It is situated next to the new & hugely popular Spruce Street Harbor Park, where Mestre Doutor routinely hosts open rodas.
The festival will enthrall visitors with a variety of on-stage performances, including samba singers & dancers, huge drum troupes, and of course, world class capoeiristas. Festival-goers can also expect vendors with handcrafted goods; drinks ranging from fresh coconut water to caipirinhas; and lots of Brazilian food to power one through the exciting afternoon.
