Social media users are reporting today that Mestre Gigante has passed away in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. He was, according to @CapoeiraBrasil_Bta, 94 years old. Capoeiristas around the world are beginning to pay their respects to the venerated master, known for being a contemporary of both Mestre Pastinha and Mestre Bimba, having been graduated by the latter mestre.
