For the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, North & South Carolina’s WYCW-TV 62 is making sure their audience gets a good sense of the spirit of Brazil, with the help of Cordão de Ouro’s Contra-Mestre Neguinho and his Upstate Capoeira group.
Along with a handful of select students, Neguinho and Professora Risadinha offered a quick explanation of capoeira for the audience and got right to the demonstration. After Risadinha showcased her skills in the roda, the contra-mestre passed her the berimbau and treated viewers to an impressive display of his own talent. The program, Studio 62, is produced and hosted by Jamarcus Gaston, who expressed his excitement and admiration for the capoeiristas many times.
